One of the three bronze rocks in the Vyner Tree installation, Boulder #3 – The Tunnel was commissioned by Barratt London, a real estate developer, for the Courthouse apartments in Westminster. The artist's foundry is located in the Czech Republic, where the sculptures' creative process started. The artist looked for water-eroded rocks in Northern Bohemia because the sculptures needed to be smooth because they were intended to be used as playthings by children. The stones were chosen, and then plaster and silicone were applied to create a wax mould, which was subsequently used to create the bronzes. The polished surfaces and openings highlight the sculptures' playful and artistic aspects, while their size lends them an imposing presence.
