About the Item
A fine quality, twentieth-century bronze model of a roaring lioness by Alberic Collin (Belgian 1886-1962). Prior to casting by the Valsuani foundry it was signed and stamped. This cast has a rich dark brown patina with greenish highlights.

The plaster model of "Bacchante" was exhibited in 1909 at the Salon of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts.
Charles Despiau produced several variants of this work, including the one presented here.
