About the Item
The graceful flight of two birds is captured in this stunningly elegant contemporary sculpture by Amos Robinson. The American artist hand forged this kinetic piece from stainless steel. Two birds-wings outstretched, (each birds wingspan is 12”), are attached to three separate curved pieces that sit on top of a tall, slender post. As the ‘silver’ birds fly, (they move independently with the wind) sunlight reflects off the highly polished surface engaging the landscape and the viewer. The effect is simply mesmerizing. Robinson is fascinated with the idea of motion and most of his work is made from stainless steel.
“I use both figurative and abstract elements in my sculptures. My work often incorporates recognizable forms, but strict representation is not my primary objective. My foremost goal is the expression of a feeling or state of mind.” Amos Robinson
Born in New York City, Steven Edward Robinson (Amos is a nickname) is a self-taught artist. In an earlier career, Robinson did metal work developing industrial equipment. A lifelong interest in restoring classic cars and motorcycles also helped hone his mechanical skills. Since he began creating kinetic sculptures in 2005, he has completed almost fifty public art installations. His work is also held in private collections worldwide including the United States, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Europe, Australia and China.
This is a wind-activated kinetic sculpture. Each kinetic feature atop the 94" pedestal has a full 360° range of motion and moves independently in response to changes in air currents. Baseplate is 18” x 18” x ¼”.

Amos Robinson
Amos Robinson has been creating kinetic art, mobiles and sculpture since 2005. Stainless steel is his medium of choice and motion, actual or implied, is an important component of his work. His metalworking and mechanical skills were honed over a 25- year career in the fields of air pollution control and industrial equipment, and a nearly lifelong interest in classic cars and motorcycles. He credits an experience at age twelve at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City as the seed from which his interest in kinetic art grew. As he stood before a mobile by Alexander Calder, the docent encouraged him, “Go ahead son, make it move; bring it to life." The idea thrilled him then, just as it continues to inspire him today. Amos Robinson has 25 permanent public art installations and private collectors in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Europe, Australia and China Selected Exhibitions

This contemporary outdoor sculpture is forged from stainless steel to resemble clouds.
In this elegant sculpture by Ania Biczysko, fine ribbons of stainless steel overlap in circles forming a cloud-like structure mounted on a tripod stand. When viewed from all sides, the sky is reflected in the luminescent quality of the highly polished steel.

"Sailing Off, " Abstract Stainless Steel Sculpture
Located in Westport, CT
This mid-sized abstract contemporary sculpture by artist Joe Sorge is made with stainless steel. The strips of steel that compose this piece have a curved, concave shape and a beautiful texture. The piece casts unique shadows on its surroundings. Please note that the white pedestal base pictured is not included.
Connecticut-based sculptor Joe Sorge studied at the School of Visual Art (SVA) in New York City. While Joe's body of work is most often made with stainless steel which he sometimes dyes to give the forms bold, solid colors, he also experiments with stone carving, genesa crystals, tiger eye alabaster and others. He works with a variety of colors, finishes, and textures, to create the final piece.
Joe's sculptures express the fluidity and tension inherent in the material he uses. His work draws on a modernist vocabulary to create abstract, often whimsical objects...
