Dark Gray Architectural Bust in Cement - "LarA 013", Sculptural Fusion of Human

2024

About the Item

"LarA 013" is an original sculptural bust in dark gray cement, part of José Perozo’s ongoing LarA series, created in 2024. This piece reinterprets the relationship between the human form and the built environment, where city-like structures emerge organically from the figure’s head and shoulders, blending elements of brutalist architecture, archaeology, and urban futurism. The softened facial features contrast with the sharp, geometric structures, evoking a sense of mystical presence and monumental stillness. The surface, finished in a deep gray tone with natural textural variations, enhances the rawness of the material, resembling weathered stone or an unearthed relic. Each sculpture is uniquely hand-tinted, ensuring variations in patina, shadows, and surface detail. The semi-matte varnish preserves the sculptural integrity while allowing subtle imperfections—such as fine air pockets, slight tonal shifts, and organic surface marks—to remain visible, reinforcing the handcrafted essence of the work. This sculptural bust bridges the aesthetic of ancient ruins with speculative architecture, recalling the futuristic ruins of dystopian cinema and the layered urban landscapes of animated worlds. The figure’s gaze, calm yet enigmatic, seems to contemplate the passage of time, reflecting on how structures—both physical and psychological—shape our existence. Crafted in high-durability cement, this piece integrates fine aggregates for precise modeling, acrylic fibers to prevent cracking, and a water-reducing agent to maintain strength and longevity. The sculpture is securely packed in a custom-fitted protective box (27 x 35 x 23 cm, 6 kg) for safe worldwide shipping.
