About the Item

S. K. Sahajahan - Untitled - 42 x 72 inches, 2018 Mixed Media on Canvas Sahajahan’s work explores his physical surroundings through figurative contexts. Utilizing texture and and the emotive faces of his subjects, “Untitled” presents entwined figures that are both illustrative of heterosexual relationships and are seemingly responsive to current events. Despite a heavy sociopolitical climate, Sahajahan produces affable and calm characters, their discoordinate expressions thereby acting as reprieve from the stress or trauma of the habitual. Style : S.K. Sahajahan is a contemporary painter whose practice aims to connect the physical, immediate world with topical events in media. As such, his paintings describe a specific consciousness constructed not only by the culture within which he lives, but also through his specific fantasies and illusions incited by the violence of our world. His subjects are textual and behaviourally expressive, as they are presented with layered patterns and references to symbolic figures of Indian culture. About the Artist and his work : Born : 1974.
