About the Item

This is a fibre glass sculpture by the noted Chinese artist, Xie Ai Ge, that is hand laid with 99.99% gold leaf, varnished. This piece is for 1 item of "Golden Apple". Limited edition series - limited left in inventory. The symbolic significance of this piece is as follows: The Apple series in general symbolizes Man's will to overcome "desire" as symbolized by the apple, referenced in Adam and Eve's stolen apple from Paradise. Each series portray a different meaning. In the Golden Apple series, the gold symbolizes wealth and honor. Man, with his arms outstretched and palms facing upwards is both embracing the world, and receiving energy or "chi" (life force) from the world. The concept of energy is an ancient concept familiar in both the East and West. His bent knees suggest his humility. The artist believes that "you are more honorable the more you are humble, and the more you are humble, the more you are honorable". Hence, could it be suggested that one's humility and an all embracing, creative, positive, energetic "chi", is inherently a source of profound wealth? For thousands of years, civilizations have used gold leaf to decorate their most prized buildings and relics. Gold leaf was also manufactured in ancient China and Japan, and has been used since ancient times. Fragile in unskilled hands, the gold leaf application process is labor-intensive and challenging. Red Apple series - Man is walking on the apple to symbolize the peaceful person's calm and resolute resistance over temptations (as symbolized by the apple). It is a sense of a mindful awareness each day - to make a good choice, as well as the recognition of the opportunity of hope and optimism.
