Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA)
Founded in 1962, the Art Dealers Association of America is a vetted community of more than 180 top-tier galleries across the United States. Working with these member galleries, ADAA appraisers offer assessment services for artworks spanning from the Renaissance to the present day. The ADAA also arranges public forums on important art-related topics and hosts The Art Show, presented each year at New York’s Park Avenue Armory, which stands out among art fairs for its acclaimed selection of curated booths — many of which are one-artist exhibitions.to

“Art Forms in Mechanism” began when artist Linarejos Moreno discovered a collection of 19th century botanical models while researching at the Cabinet of Scientific Curiosities, a Spanish historical archive. Manufactured by a European company that specialized in scientific equipment, the models are made of papier-mâché, gears, clips, hooks, and printed numbers and labels, and they were designed for hands on, practical use. Moreno was initially attracted to the models because, as she notes, “they contained the tension between the industrial and the humanity/fragility that I often research in my work. Luca Campigotto uses big equipment to capture big subjects, from the absolute vibrant density of 5POINTZ at night, to the eerie stillness of the stone statues on Easter Island, to sweeping cityscapes of Manhattan and Chicago skylines. His photographic expeditions have taken him to disparate and exotic locations around the world – Japan, India, Thailand, Cambodia in the Far East; many European and North American cities; as well as Cairo, Lapland, Argentina, and Easter Island.
Campigotto uses both large-format and digital cameras for his projects. His cityscapes feature blurred lines of traffic recorded over long exposures, in bustling settings like Times Square, and yet a stillness pervades his work, a sense of vulnerability. Some of his 5POINTZ images were captured just days before the buildings were white-washed; his Argentine glacier is retreating; the Easter Island statues stand testament to lost civilizations.

Kazuo Sumida first visited New York in 1995. He found the city to be one of “both bustle and silence,” particularly the underground world of the subway, where he encountered “a place full of characters.” By 2002, he had produced a large body of work of images taken in this subterranean metropolis – tender scenes of lovers and children; gritty portraits of beggars for whom the subway is home; artists, musicians, commuters, and others who pass through the tunnels on their daily journeys. The resulting monograph, A Story of the New York Subway, was published in 2002.
Sumida was born in 1952 in Kochi Prefecture in southern Japan. Although photography was not his formal career, Sumida has pursued the art throughout his life. He graduated from Osaka Photography Graduate School in 1983, and also studied at the International Center of Photography in New York, on a fellowship from the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs. He lives in Japan, and continues to visit New York frequently.

Throughout her career, photographer Yoko Ikeda has been finding poetry in the prosaic, and mystery in the mundane. Her photographs serve to form an imaginary world, loosely based on commonplace subjects. Working mostly in Japan, but also in Belgium, the Netherlands, the United States and elsewhere, she has created images both ominous and inviting, uncanny in their ability to coax the unexpected from the known.
