Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA)
Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA)
Founded in 1962, the Art Dealers Association of America is a vetted community of more than 180 top-tier galleries across the United States. Working with these member galleries, ADAA appraisers offer assessment services for artworks spanning from the Renaissance to the present day. The ADAA also arranges public forums on important art-related topics and hosts The Art Show, presented each year at New York’s Park Avenue Armory, which stands out among art fairs for its acclaimed selection of curated booths — many of which are one-artist exhibitions.

American Pottery Pig Bank, Circa 1880's
Located in Incline Village, NV
American pottery still bank in the shape of a pig, used for saving coins (usually pennies) to encourage children the importance of thrift. Pottery still banks are somewhat scarce since the typical way to remove coins was to smash the bank open, albeit, with this particular example, perhaps a knife was used for coin removal (note the wear to the coin slot---see images) or perhaps the additional wear is also from many coins having been deposited. The bank is in good all original condition , from an unknown potter (unmarked) circa 1880's, and probably a variant of #633 "Two Toned Pig" in Andy Moore's "The Penny Bank Book" written in 1984 when collecting pottery banks...

Vintage Pre-War Wind-Up Toy "Boy on Motorcycle Delivery Truck" by Marx
By Louis Marx and Company
Located in Incline Village, NV
This brightly lithographed tin wind-up toy in colors of red, yellow, and blue, with a driver dressed in appropriate motorcycle clothing, depicts a young man driving a delivery cart with "Speed Boy Delivery" printed on each side of the wagon. The manufacturers logo is clearly marked on both sides of the stake wagon and on the right shoulder of the driver "MAR" with a circle around it and "Made in The United States of America, New York, N.Y." around the circumference (see images). The license plate number is "268", which, along with the red painted inside of the drivers arms (as it should be!) indicates this earlier version and authenticity. Nearly 100 years old, it still operates fine and, upon winding the attached wind-up key a few times and placing the toy on the ground, the motorcycle and driver move across the floor on the way to their deliveries; do not over wind. (see video attached to this listing). The toy is completely original and in very good condition, with no repairs or restorations of any kind and no touch up or repaint. The arms and steering handle bars are also original (sometimes replaced) and they have the appropriate paint and markings. This would make a welcome addition to a collection of pre-war Americana. Dimensions: 9 7/8" long x 5 7/8" wide x 5 3/4" high After 40 plus years of dealing and collecting toys, I am justly qualified to guarantee and present the authenticity of antique and vintage toys...

Pair of Gilt Bronze Regency Firedogs, Attributed To Thomas Hope. England Ca 1803
By Thomas Hope
Located in Incline Village, NV
These firedogs (as they were referred to), while not really serving any utility, would have been used as decoration to enhance the visual aesthetics of the hearth, by being placed one to each side of the fireplace opening. I have attached 20 images to this listing. The last image shows how they would have been used in a fireplace setting. These highly ornate pair of gilt bronze firedogs are quite important and were, more than likely, the design of Thomas Hope (1769-1831), who created elaborate and innovative decorations whose features were influenced by his extensive travel through the Near East, Turkey, Egypt, Greece, and Europe, over a ten year period. He was the foremost interior designer during the Regency period and developed luxurious surroundings for his two lavish London residences during the early 19th century. They were decorated with items of his own design, along with those he had accumulated and collected during his travels. He introduced to the British aristocracy the term "interior design". In terms of collecting, and the acquisition of fine art...

Located in Incline Village, NV
Vintage "Lake Tahoe Area Photograph", circa 1920, of a large group of people, (mostly women) practicing their tennis on what is likely being promoted as a brand new cement tennis court at a Lake Tahoe resort, with the line "Do you ever indulge in this sport" written in script at the bottom of the photograph. In addition to the lady's formal tennis attire of the day, what is of particular interest are the very fancy luxury touring cars off to the side; obviously "summer tennis camp for wealthy adults". Just another lovely day at Lake Tahoe. This is a wonderful image for those who collect Tahoe area images; in addition to those who are tennis and sports collecting...

Toy Cast Iron Truck Car Carrier; Three Cars by A.C. Williams American Circa 1930
By A.C. Williams Company
Located in Incline Village, NV
Founded in 1886, the A.C. Williams Toy Company in Ravenna, Ohio, manufactured this toy circa 1930. This cast iron truck car carrier loaded with three blue "Austin" sedans ("Austin" embossed on the side of each car) is completely original with no restoration of any kind, and is in original paint with no touch-up or repaint. I have black lighted everything to insure originality of paint. A red Mack truck hitched to a green trailer pulls the car carrier with it's three original cars; all nickel plated wheels on all vehicles are original. Other markings include #5, #11, and #1 on the inside of each car by rear axle; and #5 on the green trailer; #5 on the red truck. Wonderful piece of Americana in very nice condition; one or several of the cars usually are missing and/or typically repainted due to rough floor play. See my other listings of over 100+ vintage toys and antique children's toy savings banks from which to chose. Dimensions: 12 1/2" long x 2" wide x 4 1/4" high. Each cast iron car...

Vintage "Buffalo Pottery" Large Pitcher "Buffalo Hunt" Theme Circa 1912

Western United States Native American themed pitcher depicts several Indians on horseback hunting buffalo, thus the name "Buffalo Hunt" stamped on the underneath, along with "Buffalo Pottery" and an image of the buffalo logo in blue (see images). The iconic "Buffalo Pottery Company" became famous for manufacturing pottery for the armed forces and later for national park venues such as Yosemite. The pitcher is completely original with no repairs and no repaints, no chips; it is colored and hand painted in shades of dark to light green with gold "speckled" highlighting; most of the gold is intact (typically wears off}. Labeled "semi-vitreous" underneath indicating post 1910 to 1920 manufacture; embodies a sound and well made piece of pottery that can be used with confidence, or put on display. Small Settee in the Neoclassical Taste
Located in New York, NY
Small Settee in the neoclassical taste Boston, Massachusetts (active 1804–17), about 1810 Mahogany (secondary woods: ash) Measures: 35 1/8 in. high, 59 3/4 in. long, 19 1/8 in. deep Although the diminutive scale of this settee places it in a unique category, the piece itself partakes of a vocabulary that is common in Boston furniture of the Late Federal period. Its sabre legs, for example, as seen straight on from the left and right ends, are closely related to the legs, as seen from the front, on a group of chairs of undisputed Boston origin, including a spectacular armchair with scrolled arms (see Stuart P. Feld, Boston in the Age of Neo-Classicism, 1810–1840, exhib. cat. [New York: Hirschl & Adler Galleries, 1999], p. 37 no. 6 illus. in color), as well as a number of side chairs, including a set made for Nathan Appleton (see Page Talbott, “Boston Empire Furniture, Part I,” The Magazine Antiques, CVII [May 1975], p. 887 fig. 12). In all, the legs are ornamented with two bold, somewhat flattened reeds set between corner beads, a pattern which is repeated here on the front and end seat rails as well. The superb quality of the piece is further demonstrated in the finely drawn profile of the arms, as well as the delicately bulbous surface of the fronts of the arms and legs. As in the best of the related chairs, the sabre legs end in delicately carved paw feet. The added refinement of the beautifully carved rosettes at both the fronts and backs of the arms suggests that the piece may have been designed to be used in the round. Stylistically harmonious with these pieces is also a group of larger sofas with frontally set sabre legs and scrolled arms (see Page Talbott, “Seating Furniture in Boston, 1810–1835,” The Magazine Antiques, CXXXIX [May 1991], p. 963 pl. 11) that represent an indigenously Boston form. Although none of the furniture in this group has been effectively attributed, they can certainly be related to various Boston card tables...
