Silver and Mother-of-Pearl Flatware Service
By Harrison Brothers & George Howson 1
Located in New Orleans, LA
Displaying the incredible artistry of the official cutlery to her Majesty, Queen Victoria, this stunning silver and mother-of-pearl flatware service was crafted by the Sheffield firm of Harrison Brothers & Howson. Each of the 250 sumptuous pieces in this service is distinguished by the majestic mother-of-pearl handles featuring luxurious foliate details. The silver itself features impeccable engraved elements, and the berry spoons, in particular, boast the most exquisite piercing highlighted by a beautiful gilt wash. Housed in its original walnut case with burl veneers and brass casters, this flatware service is one of the finest we have had the pleasure to offer.
Harrison Brothers & Howson specialized primarily in electroplated wares. Very few sterling silver creations by the firm are known, and those typically consist of small boxed sets of serving, carving or dessert pieces. This remarkable sterling service is a true rarity in the firm's oeuvre, and would almost certainly have been made on a special commission basis. Magnificent and one-of-a-kind, this resplendent flatware service can turn any dining affair into an event to remember.
Each piece is hallmarked by Harrison Brothers & Howson, Sheffield, 1893.
Case: 27 1/2" wide x 21 1/2" deep x 23 1/4" high

48 lunch knives
