Venus Cast - Figurative Painting Colors Black Purple White Yellow Grey
By Lyubena Fox
Located in Sofia, BG
"Venus cast" Oil on canvas (The painting is unframed 70 x 50 cm.) The Painting’s Qualities Lyubena Fox’s paintings are painted in several layers, using both the transparent and opaque qualities of oil paint. Each layer is applied after the previous has dried which makes the painting withstand time. It also creates a glowing, three-dimensional effect, which is due to the different layers showing though each other. These paintings are painted following the logic of how the eye perceives: seeing the details in the context of the form. To create a fulfilling experience, the images are composed of places, full of detail for the eye to explore and places where the eye can rest. “The impressions of Lyubena's paintings on the viewer is so mighty, mesmerizing, grand, that it paralyzes the imagination with its realistic perfection. Her paintings bring emotion of drama, mystery, love, desire and energy, represented by the vast creative power of her talent.” Bio Lyubena Fox was born in 1994 in Sofia, Bulgaria. 2013 she graduated from the National school of fine arts Bulgaria, specializing in illustration. The same year she moved to Florence, Italy to study painting with John M. Angel and in 2016 graduated from Angel Academy of Art Florence, after which she studied with Alessandro Dari. 2017 she has two solo exhibitions in Sofia. 2018 Lyubena has three of her paintings qualified as ARC finalists and later in May studies painting with her favorite contemporary painter Roberto Ferri...

18th Century Still Life Felice Rubbiani Natura Morta Oil on Canvas Fruit Flower
Located in Sanremo, IT
This original Still Life of Fruit and Flowers (oil painting on canvas, 145 x 116 cm without frame and 160 x 131 cm with coeval frame), very unique for its free and dynamic presentation of some pieces of fruit on irregular rock shelves , irregularly hewn and arranged at various heights, with a jug with a floral bouquet and some mushrooms at the bottom, and a square opening on a blue sky at the top, can be assigned to the hand of Felice Rubbiani (Modena 1677 - Villa San Pancrazio 1752), in one of his happiest moments of inventive verve and pictorial fluency. A paternity to which the confirmation of some of its typical typologies clearly leads, such as the grapes, the curled branches and the fringed leaves of the tendrils, the small oblong pears, the swollen red rose, performed with quick brush strokes and decisive contrasts chiaroscuro. A work in which Rubbiani, while confirming the graceful Arcadian taste of his open-air settings, underlies it in this case with a freer and more whimsical interpretation, open to suggestions of Rococo timbre, probably noticeable even in the most provincial climate of Modena, through the fervent alignment of the nearby Parma aristocracy with transalpine fashion. The figure of Rubbiani, favorite pupil of G.D. Bettini, had had a first qualified introduction, written by D. Biagi Maino (La vita morta in Italia, Electa ed., 1989, I, pp. 432-433) who appropriately reported what was written by Tiraboschi (1781-86). That is, the abandonment of dark backgrounds for "the light fields", following the example of the master, but with the daring innovation of painting flowers and fruit "on graceful and lively backgrounds, still sometimes decorated with distances and architectures", going beyond the classical balanced compositions by the master and contemporary Emilian colleagues, in favor of airy and lively presentations. Peculiarities to which Rubbiani grants ample explanation in the present "Still life", already finding salient comparisons in the works published by Biagi Maino, in particular the "Flowers and fruit in a landscape...
