Gorgeous, large Danish teak end tables produced by Svend Madsen for Karl Lindegarrd. These Mid-Century Modern lamp tables are finished on all sides, and feature elegant styling and expert Scandinavian craftsmanship. A single drawer on each table provides ample storage without compromising the overall modern aesthetic. The solid teak wood legs are a bit thicker than typically seen on Danish furniture. Theses gently contoured legs mimic the humanist feel of the rounded edges on the table tops. Subtly bowed, solid teak edge banding punctuates the far ends of the table tops. These tables are stamped with the Svend Madsen label and marked made in Denmark. Both of the table tops have been refinished. The more than half-a-century old teak wood maintains a warm orange tone that only comes with age.
As is the case for many Scandinavian designers from the mid-century period, little biographical information on Danish designer Svend Åge Madsen has survived. What is known has been gleaned from vintage dealers working with limited archival materials, like sales catalogues. Outside of Nordic countries, the designer’s name is often written "Svend Aage Madsen”. While some rare designs date from the late 1950s, the overwhelming majority of Madsen’s furniture was designed in the 1960s.

Each anthropomorphic gorilla-arm-chair has been recovered in high-quality, cruelty free, faux-fur that very much resembles the look and feel of leopard fur. Each high back is adorned with two hand-carved conquistador heads donning their iconic helmets. These highly collectible and hard-to-find thrown chairs were born of the jet-set era. The 1960s was the golden age of air travel and Americans were absolutely fascinated with “Exotica.” Ephemera from exotic tropical lands around South Asia were all the rage and gave birth to an explosion of tiki motifs in popular American culture.
This project was a complete tear-down and rebuild. Every section was unbolted and individually restored. This sinuous, dark cedar has been painstakingly detailed by our in-house restoration team to both preserve the patina and address any imperfections in the wood. Lightly recolored and clear-coated to accentuate and preserve the character. The seats and backs were professionally reupholstered, and the results speak for themselves. We're more than certain these will exceed expectations.

Robert Post Junior and Artist William Westenhaver Created Witco in 1959. The two capitalized on the exotica trend by creating lavishly bold, roughly carved wood furniture and decor. The delightfully dramatic furniture was so beloved during the period that Elvis created an entire “Jungle Room” in his Graceland home featuring Witco furniture! Witco remains a mainstay among collectors today. You can even see original Witco pieces still in use at Graceland, and other iconic tiki venues like Polynesian Gardens, the Hawaiian Inn, and the Aku Tiki Inn all located in Florida.

The restoration team pulled no punches on this Chapter One green highboy dresser, and the end result exceeded our expectations. Every inch of painted wood (including base) was professionally sanded primed and painted to match the original bright white. The laminate top and canary green molded plastic drawer fronts were finally buffed and polished to a glassy shine.

Broyhill’s Chapter one collection borrowed from the plastic mold injection designs made famous by legendary designer Raymond Loewy. Like Loewy, these Chapter One Dressers employ the futuristic use of color and materials in a way that had not been seen before. The bright yellow plastic captures the playful spirit of the 1970s. The dresser is supported by a lacquered plinth base with rounded corners. This colorful, curvaceous case-good could have blended in nicely on the set of 2001 A Space Odyssey. The space-age look has never been more desirable, which may help explain the recent scarcity of all things Chapter One.

We can neither confirm nor deny that these Paul Boulva modular seating group has seen screen time on Start Trek: The Next Generation, but the teal color resemblance to the Ten Forward chairs is uncanny. The iconic show aired during the 1987-1994 (Nineteen-Laties). The elusiveness of this line makes their discovery all the more exciting when considering the exceptional condition. We’re certain you won’t find a more pristine and complete set of this modular anywhere. This set includes three chair modules without arms, 2 chairs that have a single arm and one corner table (6-piece set). Each piece can be used independently as a stand alone chair or table. This set is modular… use the chairs to create any combination of loveseats, chairs, or sofas. Incredibly versatile, position or arrange the pieces as your needs evolve. Incredible original Witco carved cedar wood Medieval shield. This shield is in time capsule quality original condition. The original red faux fur has a brilliant color with no fading, no stains. Collectors will instantly recognize the chainsaw carved, richly figured cedar wood that distinguishes Witco. The shield is crowned with ornate carving. The medallion at center features a knight’s profile silhouette framed by two horses. The knight is highlighted with apropos silver paint. Two spears criss-cross the shield with gold colored metal chain dangling from each side. We had the piece arranged above a fireplace which seemed more that fitting. This is the ultimate man-cave accessory. LARPers and Dungeons and Dragons fans, you’ve met your match. We also have a Witco dining set, armless chairs and armchairs in the same red faux fur fabric (sold separate). Create an envious Renaissance theme room by adding more pieces of the collection.
