Ole Wanscher for Poul Jeppesens Mobelfabrik Danish Teak Surfboard Coffee Table

About the Item

We are pleased to present this super rare Ole Wanscher Danish teak surfboard coffee table. Designed by Wanscher for Poul Jeppesens Mobelfabrik in Denmark. You may have seen the similar, more common table by his colleague Grete Jalk. The designers were contemporaries working for JP Mobelfabrik. The surfboard coffee table is called so because it resembles the form. The table appears aerodynamic with sleek elevated lips along the front and back edge diminishing as they chase the horizon. The solid teak design is a testament to quality. The Poul Jeppesens Mobelfabrik “PJ” emblem, Ole Wanscher’s name and the Danish Control emblem can all be found beneath the table top. A masterclass in minimalist aerodynamics, this rare coffee table—designed by Ole Wanscher for Poul Jeppesens Mobelfabrik—elevates figure and form to art. Its long, tapered silhouette evokes the sleek elegance of a vintage surfboard, with raised edges along the front and back gently curving skyward, creating an illusion of motion frozen in time. The fluid line appears to vanish into infinity, a stunning tribute to ancient Greek ideals of proportion and beauty rendered through modernist restraint. Crafted entirely of plush teak with a refined finish, this piece is as much sculpture as it is functional furniture. We also have a pair of Grete Jalk side tables that would pair nicely with this coffee table (sold separately). 65” Long x 23.25” Deep x 17” High Condition: Table looks like it has been restored in recent years. A few minor marks can be found on the table top. The legs have some scratches.
