WMF was originally called Metallwarenfabrik Straub & Schweizer. In 1880, Metallwarenfabrik Straub & Schweizer merged with another German company and took the name of Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik, then WMF acquired the Polish metalworks Plewkiewicz of Warsaw in 1886, which became a subsidiary of WMF around 1900. In 1900, WMF acquired Albert Köhler, a famous Austrian ironwork company. Then, in 1905, WMF acquired Orivit, a company known for its Jugendstil (German equivalent of Art Nouveau) pewter fabrications, followed a year later by the purchase of Kunstgewerbliche Metallwarenfabrik Orion, another German metal fabrication company. .
During World War I, the WMF was responsible for producing weapons for the German military and had certified to the Allied Control Commission that the tools used to produce these weapons had been destroyed. However, after Hitler's call for rearmament, the company, then under the control of Hugo Debach, immediately resumed producing weapons. Debach died shortly thereafter. From 1940, WMF began to make increasing use of forced labor from Soviet POWs in surrounding camps, with these eventually accounting for a third of the company's workforce. The WMF also founded its own concentration camp in 1944 to detain and force over 900 Hungarian Jewish women...

Lucille Sévin is a French sculptor, active from 1920 to 1940. Lucille Sévin made many chryselephantine sculptures in the Art Deco style, using materials such as bronze, silver or gold, and ivory. His work was skillfully implemented and distributed by art publisher Edmond Etling. For a time, Sévin was artistic director of the Etling company. Her husband, the sculptor Jean Théodore Delabassé, also worked for Etling.
Sévina also worked with glass, ceramics and porcelain. Her sculptures of dancers in frosted and iridescent milky glass like Isadora Duncan of 1925 were made for Etling in a glass factory in Choisy-le-Roi.
Sévin exhibited at the Salon of the Society of French Artists in Paris and became a member of the Society. Lucille Sévin won the bronze medal in 1932 and the gold medal at the Universal Exhibition in Paris 1937. She also exhibited her works at the Society of the Salon d'Automne in Paris.

Joseph-Michel-Ange Pollet born in Palermo on March 11, 1814 and died in Paris on January 1, 18711 is a French sculptor.
Born in Palermo to French parents, Joseph-Michel-Ange Pollet studied sculpture in Italy with Bertel Thorwaldsen, Valerio Villareale and Pietro Tenerani. He came to Paris in 1836, then stayed in Ghent in 1838. After another stay in Italy from 1843 to 1845, he settled permanently in Paris and exhibited for the first time at the Salon of 1846. He won a medal of third class in 1847, a second class medal in 1848 and a first class medal in 1851. In 1855 he was awarded a second class medal at the Universal Exhibition. He was named Knight of the Legion of Honor by decree of June 14, 18563.
Of neoclassical formation, the work of Pollet oscillates between this current and that of romanticism. In 1840, for the bicentenary of his death, he produced the bust of Rubens, the original plaster of which is kept at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium. In 1848, he presented at the Salon a large plaster statue...

Victor Saglier (1809 - 1894)
Victor Saglier is a ceramist and goldsmith known in particular for his creations in the Art Nouveau style of the late 19th century.
He produces, among other things, objects in enamelled glass, gilded metal and numerous pieces of silverware.
On his death, the company was bought by his brothers who continued production until 1948.
Victor Saglier's objects are signed by the "VS" brand.
Known for his Art Nouveau work, Saglier made several pieces for Louis Majorelle, Daum and Émile Gallé. Its style is typically French Art Nouveau in the language of the École de Nancy. He often drew inspiration from nature for his work, the logic of which helped design both forms and settings. The sign of master goldsmith Victor Saglier is an oval-shaped three-master sailboat surrounded by the letters V and S in a rectangle.
Saglier made everyday objects such as glass vases, bowls and pitchers with metal mounts, planters, tea and coffee services and candlesticks in bronze or silver-yellow metal or cast zinc.
On his death, the Victor Saglier company at 12 rue d'Enghien in Paris became Saglier Frères. It was run by his brothers Eugène and André until his death in 1948.
Daum (French establishment created in 1878) is a glass and crystal workshop located in Nancy. Founded by the industrialist and notary Jean Daum, the workshop was then taken over by his sons Auguste and Antonin, who ran it during the Art Nouveau period.
It was not until the Universal Exhibition of 1900 that the company was at the forefront of the decorative art scene, when Daum received the prestigious Grand Prix medal. At this time, Daum glass became more complex, acid treatment was often used in the cutting, enameling and etching of a piece to produce glass masterpieces. Daum also produces applied glass elements, such as handles and ornamental motifs in naturalistic shapes. The Daum brothers quickly became big names in Art Nouveau, rivaling the famous designer Émile Gallé, and established themselves as leaders in the field of decorative glass after his death.
In 1906, Daum revived glass paste, a process by which glass is transformed into paste, then it is applied to the surface of a mold and fired. This technique originates from ancient Egypt. Today, Daum is the only industrial crystal manufacturer that uses the glass paste process for its glass objects and crystal sculptures.
Following the First World War, Paul Daum began to develop works in the Art Deco style, moving away from naturalistic forms and turning to linear, angular, simplified forms and geometric patterns characteristic of the movement. After the Second World War, Henri and Michel Daum became interested in the transparency of glass and pure lines. Daum collaborates with a large number of famous artists, such as Louis Majorelle, Salvador Dalí, Hilton Mac Connico, Elizabeth Garouste and Mattia Bonetti to create glass paste objects.
