An incredible and sculptural pendant light from the 1970s attributed to the former lighting company Sothis of Italy. The chrome frame has six candelabra sockets housed inside a large 21.5 inch diameter opaque white mushroom top shade. The shade is hand blown with a layer of white glass over clear glass to create the see through opaque shade. Inside are six chrome candelabra sockets that extend up through the top dish on the globe. The pendant hangs on a single chrome rod with with original matching chrome ceiling canopy. The bottom of the glass shade is open to reveal an internal white enamel shade with single standard socket. This adjustable desk lamp was designed by D. C. Arnoldi for Italian lighting company Luci illuminaznione d'interni, circa 1970. The company was founded in 1966 and quickly became known for their original and innovative designs of modern lighting. Luci has an impressive list of Italian designs who have worked for the company. In 1989, the company renamed itself LuciItalia and continued its identity as a producer of high quality and decorative modern design lighting. Here we have an example of an earlier Luci piece form the 1970s. It features an exterior chocolate brown enamel shade and screw on table mount. The interior of the shade is off white enamel and has a chrome socket cover over the standard socket.
