He was assistant professor from 1912 to 1913 at the Kunstgewerbeschule, where he worked under Koloman Moser. In 1918 he was appointed full professor at the school and headed the fashion department until 1921. In 1922 he left Vienna, initially spending time in Paris before heading to the United States.
