Emerald Lapels, Oil Painting
By Malia Pettit
Located in San Francisco, CA

Artist Comments
With closed eyes and a subtle tilt of her head, a woman confidently flaunts her shimmery eyeshadow, tonal highlights, and plump red lips. Against the beige backdrop, her dolled-up face and glowing skin create a captivating contrast. The playful touch of green tips on her curly hair adds a fun element to the sensual quality of the piece. The artwork comes with a Larson-Juhl matte natural frame measuring 2.25 inches deep and 0.25 inches thick.

About the Artist
Malia Pettit sees her artistic process as an act of “liberating the paint” and “allowing for the unexpected to occur.” Her portraits of women stem from a fascination with glossy magazines and their portrayal of models, actors and celebrities. Her work has been especially influenced by Chantal Joffe and John Singer Sargent. She currently resides in Louisiana after having lived in both California and England for several years. When she’s not painting, she is a full-time mom and enjoys exploring estate sales, antique stores and used bookstores.

Winter Song, Abstract Oil Painting
By Valerie Berkely
Located in San Francisco, CA

Artist Comments
The frosted ground crackles beneath each step on a crisp winter day. Cool green and blue tones envelop the forest scene, extending from the ground to the wooded area. The transparent hues applied on textured surfaces convey the wintry ambiance of the landscape.

About the Artist
Valerie Berkely uses her finger tips as brushes to create her abstract paintings. For Valerie, the art is all about the process, the paint, her mood, and the moment. She admires the artist Wolf Kahn, who once said, “the picture is the conclusion of an experiment in which the hint of an image becomes actuality." Like Kahn, Valerie’s paintings combine pictorial landscapes with painterly abstraction. The vibrant primary colors capture the hues of the sun rising and setting, and the texture of her fingers across the surface divides sea, land, and sky. There is something very dreamy about these works, exemplified by their color, texture, and atmospheric quality. Valerie’s first “art epiphany” was seeing Seurat's La Grande Jatte at the Art Institute of Chicago. “Bowled me over! I actually fell down. And I knew I was to become a painter.”

Quiet Cosmos, Abstract Painting
By Patrick Duffy
Located in San Francisco, CA

Artist Comments
Artist Patrick Duffy presents abstract spheres etched in subtle contrasting textures. He creates a dialogue between the imagination and the fundamentals of all things space. "It's an exploration of newly learned concepts and a unique way to visualize them through artwork and design," says Patrick. Within his creative process, shapes become symbols of time and process, guiding the eye and mind to think of dark solar windswept patterns that are balanced and engaging.

About the Artist
Artist Patrick Duffy creates multi-scaled abstract compositions that seek to realize patterns through process, form, and color. Growing up in the coastal town of Blue Hill, Maine, he started creating artwork very early. He explores time, space, theoretical, and science fiction themes, describing his works as translated visions of paradoxes. Patrick received his BFA from Pratt Institute in 2006, being part of many shows in New York, New England, and Houston, TX. Publications include The New York Times, “Things to See in the Hudson Valley” for the exhibition “Intricate Realities” at the Catskill Arts Society in 2016, as well as “Creating in Color” for Trouvé Magazine Volume 3 in 2015. Since 2019, Patrick has resided in Austin, Texas. He has worked with artists Takashi Murakami (Kai Kai...

Snow Road, Oil Painting
Located in San Francisco, CA

Artist Comments
A road remains visible beneath a blanket of snow. Bordering trees, some concealed in the shade while others bask in the warmth of the sun, reveal colors and shapes that add contrast to the white surroundings. This winter scene forms a natural symphony, where each element contributes to the serene landscape.

About the Artist
Artist Shuxing Fan paints radiant classical scenes influenced by his formal college art training in the early 1970s. "My college study in theatrical set design was rigorously fine art oriented and heavily influenced by European and Russian educated mentors," says Shuxing. After finishing a BFA in Scene Design in Beijing, he moved to America and received his MFA from Boston University. With a career of over 35 years as a theatre set designer and scenic artist, his work has been seen on Broadway, on national TV, and at international conglomerates' events. Upon retirement, Shuxing took on the challenge to focus on painting again to fulfill his childhood dream. Today, he works from his basement studio which he finds to be a quiet, convenient, and creative working space. When he's not painting, he experiments with game engines to build virtual environments.
