About the Item
A charming Korean celadon glazed stoneware bowl with white and black sangam inlay, Goryeo Dynasty, 12th - 13th century, Korea.
The celadon glazed stoneware bowl of generous proportions, with wide, gently sloping sides, set on a short ring foot. The interior of the bowl decorated with a design of four cranes flying gracefully amongst clouds. The cavetto with a single chrysanthemum blossom surrounded by a band of yeoui (ruyi) heads. The exterior of the bowl decorated with further chrysanthemum roundels set among billowing clouds, all above a band of stylized lotus petals.
The bowl crafted of a porcelaneous stoneware and glazed all over in a grayish celadon, typical of Goryeo wares of the period.
