A gift to the renowned 19th century violinist and musicologist Johannes Wolff, a rare sterling silver vesta case or match safe in the form of a violin case. The case has terrific detailing in sterling silver showing catches, hinges and locks together with the handle on top of the violin case. Hallmarked London, 1889. Makers mark for Walter Thornhill of Bond Street.
Dimensions: 7 cm (length) x 2.3 cm (max width) x 1 cm.
Bentleys are Members of LAPADA, the London and Provincial Antique Dealers Association.
