This important vintage 1990's Cheap and Chic by Moschino novelty printed blazer is one of Franco Moschino's iconic designs! The yellow pages print spoofs designer labels by giving them different names.. Chanel is Cocco Che Bel, Hermes is Charmes, Gianfranco Ferre is Gianfranco Per Me, Prade is Strada, Levis is Elvis, Versace is Vernice, Etro is RETOR, etc. But Moschino had just as much fun making fun of himself, and put his own various labels in the design as well!
The colors of this incredible blazer include: muted fluorescent yellow, orange, red, and black. There are various ads for brands throughout the print that are in a bright orange and red box. This blazer is only partially lined with outer fabric along the lapels and fully lined sleeves. The shoulders are slightly more structured with thin shoulder pads. Mr. Moschino even used Gettone Telefonico (phone tokens) as buttons along the cuffs of the sleeves and at the center front opening. There are two functional pockets along the hips and one functional breast pocket and there is a back vent.
A version of this is part of the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
There is a Bergdorf Goodman label sewn into the Cheap and Chic one. Made in Italy of 100% Rayon and the lining is 60% Acetate and 40% Rayon. This is labeled a US 10 IT 44, and we estimate this would best fit a modern size 10 or M.
