About the Item

This is an old iron pedestal from Japan, believed to have been crafted during the Meiji period (1860s–1900s). Its bold hexagonal form and aged iron surface exude a quiet but powerful presence, embodying the passage of time through its rich patina and layers of rust. Though solid and weighty in structure, the natural texture created by oxidation gives it a compelling, almost organic quality. Supported by three sturdy legs, the piece stands with confidence, while its tiered hexagonal top adds visual weight and sculptural depth. It commands attention simply by being placed in a room. While ideal as a pedestal for displaying a favorite object or small sculpture, it also functions perfectly as a standalone art piece, appreciated for its form and material alone. The aesthetic of aged iron—its rust, roughness, and subdued shine—perfectly embodies the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, which finds beauty in imperfection, impermanence, and the quiet dignity of timeworn things. This piece is more than a functional object; it is a sculptural presence that offers both history and artistry. Whether placed in a contemporary interior, a minimalist setting, or a rustic environment, this pedestal brings a sense of stillness and gravity that enhances the atmosphere around it. Weight: 4 kg ____________________________ Our Philosophy Objects always tell the truth. All I can do is just to face with them sincerely and give them deep affection as much as I can. There is no boundary of nationalities and of eras in beauty. But I think now is the time we choose 'Japanese style' and it will be the best way to remind us of what we are losing today and to question us about an essence of beauty again. I hope that you can touch the memories which the objects here have, feel and think of something invisible but exists undoubtedly.
