Antique Chinese Imari Pattern Dish
We are pleased to offer this Chinese export dish decorated in the Imari style with peonies budding and in full bloom. In Chinese tradition peonies are known as the king of flowers and symbolize royalty and wealth. This Chinese Imari Porcelain dish dates to the Qianlong period of the Qing dynasty circa 1760. Chinese potters took advantage of a rich palette of orange, pink, navy blue, light green, and gold to illustrate the beauty of these flowers. The creative use of colors gives the design a stunning decorative effect. We see vibrant peonies in full bloom growing from a blue tree trunk. The dish exudes a feeling of simplicity and clarity that is characteristic of Chinese Imari ware which differs from the heavy use of gold pigment and dense composition typical of Japanese Imari porcelains. Dimensions: 8.75"diameter x 1.5" deep Condition: Excellent Price: $700.
