Chinese Antique Martaban Water Jar with Dragon Motifs and Ocher Glaze

About the Item

A Chinese antique Martaban water jar from the 19th century, with dragon motifs and petite loop handles. Created in the Martaban kilns, this antique water jar showcases the typical Martaban shape, with a tapered unglazed foot and a large belly topped with a trumpet neck accented with petite loop handles through which a rope would have been passed to secure a top. The opening is 10.25". The belly is decorated with an ochre glaze with a dragon pattern, an auspicious traditional Chinese motif. A great addition to any living room, foyer or covered patio!
