Early 20th C. Chinese Black with Multi Color Glazed Rooster Vase
This lovely vase was painted to look like cloisonne work. Set on a black ground the beloved rooster perched on a branch of chrysanthemums are painted in exquisite bright colors of yellow, pink, green, blue and purple. The motifs of the rooster and chrysanthemum are preceived as auspicious and symbols of wealth and power in Chinese History and culture. The collar and base of the vase were similarly painted to look like cloisonne work with the larger leaf motif shown vertically. Very good overall condition. General wear to finish. Chip to top rim.
