Japanese Porcelain Hibachi of the Showa Period or Slightly Earlier.

About the Item

This porcelain Japanese hibachi or “Fire Bowl” was made in Japan circa 1900 to 1925. This is a traditional Japanese heating device and consists of a fireproof cylinder or box that can be made of many materials. This porcelain one is done in a slightly celadon colored ground with two colors of cobalt blue, white and salmon-colored underglaze decoration. Consisting of flowers and vining leaves in circular patterns the top and bottom of the piece is finished with traditional Japanese lambrequin patterns often found on bronzes and porcelains.
