Large 17th Century Japanese Arita Vase - Genroku Period
About the Item
As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this Edo Period 1612-1868, Arita vase and cover manufactured in the late 17th Century Genroku period 1688-1704, the vase of hexagonal form is finely painted in traditional Imari palette with overlapping fan and chrysanthemum shaped panels of flora beneath insects in flight, further panels shaped as traditional Uchiwa fans, floral displays and swags adorn the neck and shoulders, the original lid displays matching swags and fan shaped panels with the most charming & unusual finial formed as a mother and child with cat, just delightful. This perfect and unrestored example of a late 17th century vase and cover will illuminate any chosen setting in your home or make a great addition to your Japanese period ceramics collection.
