Early 20th Century Red Lacquered Chinese Trunk with Brass Hardware

A richly colored red lacquered Chinese storage trunk, dating to the early 20th century, featuring original brass hardware and hand-painted naturalistic decorations. The lid showcases a large circular seal medallion, while the side panels are adorned with gold illustrations of birds and trees—motifs traditionally symbolizing peace and longevity in Chinese decorative arts.
The interior bears a stamp in the upper left corner, indicative of origin or studio mark, and speaks to the piece’s authenticity. Finished in red lacquer, the trunk is accented with painted brass corner fittings and a front clasp, all original to the piece.
