Steeped in both cultural and aesthetic richness, the screen features an idyllic pond landscape with five regal red-crowned cranes, also known as Manchurian cranes, effortlessly gliding over lush vegetation and serene waters. In Taoism, the Manchurian crane is an emblem of longevity and immortality, and their inclusion adds a layer of spiritual allure to the screen. The craftsmanship is impeccable with a golden ground on the upper section providing a celestial backdrop, while the bottom part is a sumptuous black lacquer. The contrast between the slightly raised motifs at the top and the incised décor of the bottom is a visual sonnet.
