About the Item
A truly wonderful and somewhat rare and scarce original woodblock print by Japanese Sosaku-hanga artist Toshi Yoshida, son of famed master printmaker/artist Hiroshi Yoshida.
This lifetime edition work titled "Arab in Bagdad" was done in 1954. In 1952, influenced by the work then being produced by his brother Hodaka, Toshi began producing abstract prints, while at the same time continuing the shin hanga school landscape tradition began by his father. In 1954, Toshi did a series of abstract portraits - this being one that he produced during that creative period.
The print is titled, sealed in red within the image, and pencil signed and dated by the artist in the lower right margin.
The rich, vivid colors of this work are quite spectacular. Would make a great addition for collectors of his work or Japanese Asian art or an eye-catching accent work in about any setting.
