About the Item
A large, beautifully designed and colored, dramatically composed print by Japanese master printmaker Yoshitoshi Mori who was famed for his kappazuri stencil printing technique. In the 1950s Mori became one of the key artist in the Sosaku Hanga movement (which stressed the artist as the sole creator of any given work as opposed to a collaborative effort). This print of two women and a young child is titled "Sorrow".
The work was created on crumpled, hand-made paper. It is signed, sealed/stamped, dated (1958) and numbered (9/50) by Mori. As we have seen only one other copy of this image (a, smaller colorless version), we are assuming it is quite rare.
Paper dimensions: 28.75" high, 23" wide
Image approximately: 26" high x 19" wide
A special and hard to find work. Would be a great addition to any Japanese or Asian art/print collection or make for an eye catching stand alone accent artwork in about any setting once framed.
Considered to be one of Japan's finest and most innovative 20th century print makers, Mori has exhibited throughout the world and his works can be found in permanent collections in such museums and galleries as:

Yoshitoshi Mori Signed Large Limited Edition Japanese Stencil Print, 1985
By Yoshitoshi Mori
Located in Studio City, CA
A quite large and engaging fine print by famed Japanese printmaker Yoshitoshi Mori. The print portrays an ancient Samurai, one of Mori's favorite subjects, with an arrowhead in hand. It is stamped, signed, dated (1985) and numbered (12/50) by the artist. The original 1985 price of 300,000 yen can be seen written along the bottom edge of print. I have only seen this print offered once before making it relatively rare. A must have for collectors or admirers of Yoshitoshi Mori's work or lovers of Japanese prints in general. Would stand out in any setting and/or collection.
The print has been professionally framed.

Kiyoshi Saito Signed Limited Edition Japanese Woodblock Print Tosyodai-Ji Nara
By Kiyoshi Saitō
Located in Studio City, CA
A beautifully composed, rare woodblock print by famed Japanese printmaker Kiyoshi Saito. Many consider Saito to be one of the most important, if not the most important, contemporary Japanese printmakers of the 20th century. This print is titled "Tosyodai-Ji Nara". The wood grain and rich colors are amazing.
The print is signed in white ink and stamped within the image and titled, dated (1959) and numbered (75/80) in pencil by the artist in the lower margin. This particular image is quite rare and hard to find. A copy of this print can be found in the Museum of fine Arts in Boston.
