A magnificent Qing Dynasty (1636-1912) architectural ancestral shrine. 19th century, China, exceptionally executed in traditional ancient Chinese architecture timber-frame temple hall form, exquisitely hand-crafted and heavily carved with intricate details on the sloped roof and throughout the frame, elaborately decorated layered front with Dougong interlocking wooden brackets over ornate relief carvings and latticework, partial raised gallery fenced entry, retaining some signs of faded gilt decor and lacquer throughout the structure. Large architectural model ancestor shrines were important religious items throughout Asian countries. Red wax export seal on the roof indicates it's authentic and was legally exported. Japanese Antique Wooden Mask "Hyottoko" / 19th to Early 20th Century
Located in Sammu-shi, Chiba
Japan has a culture of masks since ancient times, and they are sometimes used in Shinto rituals and temple events. This mask called "Hyottoko" also has a long history. Although there is no clear document, it is thought that this "Hyottoko" existed after the 9th century. "Hyottoko" is a male mask with a puckered mouth. "Hyottoko" often appears as a clown during dances and dances at festivals. There is also a theory that the origin of "Hyottoko" is modeled after a man who blows fire from a hearth with a bamboo tube. He has a funny face and his face is distorted and has a very funny expression. I think this mask, which also appears in the Japanese anime...

Fine Workmanship Japanese Antique Wood Carving Demon/1600-1800/Edo Period
Located in Sammu-shi, Chiba
We have a unique Japanese aesthetic sense. And only we can introduce unique items through our purchasing channels in Japan and the experience we have gained so far, in such a way that no one else can imitate. This is a "demon" made in the Edo period of Japan. I don't know the exact age, but I think it's around 1600-1800. Also, this is part of the architectural decoration of the temple. It is placed under the roof and is often decorated to support the eaves. I think that the fact that the demons who serve the temple do their best to support the eaves and stare diagonally below means that they are watching out for bad guys approaching the temple. In other words, I think that it also plays the role of a talisman. There are several temples that have such demons decorated under the eaves. Famous temples such as Horyu-ji and Toshodai-ji are decorated like this. I posted a picture of it being installed at the temple, so please see it for your reference. And this demon is thought to have been removed when the temple was rebuilt. After that, the base of the tiled roof made of wood was manufactured and used as an ornament. The foundation was built in the Showa period (20th century). Very well done. And it can be inferred that this demon was also carved by a very skillful Buddhist sculptor. The material used is zelkova wood. It is hard and has a beautiful grain, so it is often used for building pillars...
