About the Item
A fine set of five Chinese silks, four oval and one shaped, in various colors, featuring variety of flowers, animals, and birds, accented with geometric and scrollwork designs. All but one are mounted on a background under glass (one oval silk is matted) in simple ebonized and giltwood frames. A Hartsdale, NY framer’s label appears on verso of each. These beautiful hand stitched silks probably date to the early 20th century and are all in very good condition, with minimal imperfections, slight fade, minor frame losses, and light expected wear from age and use. The fifth silk shows some discoloration in the lower corners- this is residue on the surface of the glass.
