Brutalist Bronze Door Furniture Set

About the Item

A set of bronze door furniture comprising letterbox, bell-push surround and keyhole plate. Second half 20th century, found in Germany. The pieces are made of cast bronze, with the details of a common abstract pattern. All in vintage condition with an applied patina - deep brown - and lots of weathering, as one might expect, and signs of wear in line with age and use. The letterbox has a large front plate which lifts to access the frame below. Installation is through holes on the tabs seen in image 5. The sides are shaped to enable the front plate to sit at a slight angle to the face of the door. The decorative bell-push surround is shown with its original push-button and contacts - please note we have not been able to test its function and your fitter may advise replacing this small component. The rectangular name plate has been ground smooth in the past. The keyhole plate, or escutcheon, is designed to surround a Euro lock and is fitted to the door/wall by screwing onto an internal circular mount. Approximate dimensions: Letterbox: 29cm x 9cm x 2.5cm (internal tabs add 2cm) Bell-push plate: 8cm x 8cm x 1.5cm Escutcheon: 5.2cm x 5.2cm x 1.5cm The dimensions shown in the box below are those of the letterbox only.
