This is an antique coal purdonium. An English, oak and brass fireside store in Arts & Crafts taste, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1890. Fine decorative appeal to accentuate the fireplace Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order Select oak stocks present warm biscuit and caramel hues throughout Dressed with brass fittings, adding a mellow golden tonality Attractive lid with a quartet of brass capping, decorated with fan detail Opens with a small circular pull, accentuated with concentric rings Removable cast iron coal liner aids ease of cleaning Replete with quality coal scoop, with turned beech handle This is an attractive antique coal purdonium, with fascinating decorative finish in keeping with the Arts & Crafts taste. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
