About the Item

A very handsome 19th century wrought iron & parcel gilt Arts & Crafts fire grate / basket, together with it's original integral andirons. The fire basket is fitted with a removable bottom grate, over a brass apron with contrasting cast iron anthemia appliques, sided by organic inspired andirons with leaf shaped supports, rising to stylized gilt bronze & pierced finials in the form of flowering urns. The reverse of the back is stamped with foundry marks for noted New York City foundry, William H. Jackson Company, 2 W. 47th Street, New York. The William H. Jackson foundry has been producing high quality metal-ware since 1827 and is still in production today. In very good overall condition, and priced competitively in comparison to similar examples in the marketplace.
