pair of Italian 19th century Mahogany, Giltwood and Marble pedestals

About the Item

An impressive and most decorative pair of Italian early 19th century Neo-Classical st. Mahogany, Giltwood and white Carrara marble pedestals. Each most unique pedestal is raised by egg shaped Giltwood feet accented with draped palmettes. The legs showcase foliate bands at the base, fluted designs, and wonderfully decorative Corinthian capitals. The legs are joined by a scrolled Mahogany stretcher leading to a central fluted column, which presents an elegant Giltwood maiden. Each classically dressed woman is depicted in wonderful detail and with charming expressions. One maiden holds her dress filled with fresh flowers and wears a charming wreath in her hair. The other holds a vase filled with grapes, while also wearing a grape vine wreath in her hair. Above is the thick Mahogany top showcasing an acanthus leaf mount on the underside, and an elegant foliate band at the top. Each pedestal is finished with a stunning solid circular white Carrara marble top. Top Dimensions: L: 19.25" x D: 19.25" Base Dimensions: L: 17.5" x D; 17.5"
