A Pair of Louis XVI Style Gilt-Bronze Mounted Alabastro Fiorito Antico Pedestal Columns. The pedestals are of classical form with finely figured Alabastro Foiorito columns and gilt-bronze Corinthian capitals and laurel leaf plinth bases. Each acanthus leaf to the capitals individually cast. Alabastro Fiorito Antico is among the most beautiful & rare of ancient stones, with distinct veining, exceptional colours, and stunning lustre. It is a compact banded travertine composed mainly of Calcite, with some bands as colourless prismatic crystals, richly coloured by iron oxides, red Hematite and brown Goethite. French, Circa 1890.
