About the Item

A striking Italian 19th century Louis XVI st. Mecca and faux painted marble freestanding planter. The planter is raised by a beautiful faux painted Vert de Patricia marble base with cut corners and a fine tapered support with a fish scale design. The circular fluted baluster shaped central support is flanked by most decorative richly carved scrolled acanthus leaves. The planter above displays superb scrolled foliate designs flanked by striking finely detailed acanthus leaves. The removable pewter insert is framed within an elegant mottled border. All original mecca and finish throughout.
