About the Item
A delicate, handcrafted bowl with an organic form, featuring a torn clay edge in natural, speckled stoneware.
Part of the Golden Promise Series, this piece explores abstracted and stylized elements from nature, evoking themes of germination and new growth with intricate golden bud details.
The decoration is achieved through the Mishima technique—cutting and pressing motifs into the clay to create fine channels for inlaid color. The design is further enhanced with hand-painted white slip and luminous gold accents.
Each piece is entirely handcrafted and individually decorated, making every bowl a unique work of art. While maintaining consistency, no two are ever identical.

Helen Prior’s ceramics and textiles unite the leaves and wildflowers of the Hudson Valley with stylized flowers and patterns from her historical archives. By cutting fine lines and pressing found objects into clay, she creates intricate botanical patterns.
