Large Antique Shell Metal Dish or Platter
About the Item
Unusual rustic French antique metal shell plate is made of metal with leaded color coating, a wonderful aged patina. The piece was possibly used in a commercial setting at a coach stop or a roadside inn but can now be used as centerpiece, decorative accent for a coffee table or sideboard for holding goodies. A wonderful leaded look. The piece has obviously been a well used item, there are tiny holes at the crease of the shell design but does not distract from the plate. The shell design was made popular in the late Louis XIV time into Louis XV, Rococo or Late Baroque.
