About the Item

Murano glass daughter designed by Tyra Lundgren for Venini, made with fine filigree work in 1982 Ø cm 24 Ø cm 20 h cm 3 Tyra Carolina Lundgren (1897-1979) was an extremely versatile and influential Swedish artist. She was known for her works such as: Painter: explored various styles, including Cubism and New Objectivism, with birds, fish and people as recurring subjects. Ceramist: worked for major porcelain companies such as St Eriks Lervarufabrik, Arabia and Rörstrand, and for a time was even the art director of Arabia. His ceramic works often feature expressive forms and refined glazes with naturalistic motifs. Glass designer: designed glass objects for Moser, Riihimäki and Kosta. In particular, she was one of the first women to design glass for the prestigious Italian company Paolo Venini, creating iconic pieces such as the "Vingar" (Wings) series. In addition, he has contributed to art magazines and self-published several books. Lundgren's work is celebrated for its strong connection to nature, often incorporating organic forms and bird and fish motifs. He combined functionality and poetic expression, making his designs timeless. In 1950 he received the Swedish Royal Medal Litteris et Artibus for his artistic contribution. Venini is a name that immediately evokes the excellence and refinement of Murano glass. This historic Venetian glassworks, founded in 1921 by Paolo Venini and Antonio Ferro, revolutionized the world of glassmaking, taking Murano craftsmanship to the highest levels of artistic expression. A union between tradition and innovation Venini has been able to combine the thousand-year-old glassmaking tradition of Murano with an innovative and experimental approach. Collaboration with internationally renowned artists such as Paolo Venini, Fulvio Bianconi, Tobia Scarpa, and Gio Ponti resulted in unique and iconic works that defined the canons of 20th-century design. The colors used by Venini are intense and vibrant, achieved through the use of fine pigments and sophisticated coloring techniques. The forms of the works are often abstract and innovative, the result of an ongoing search for new artistic expressions. Venini experimented with and perfected numerous glassmaking techniques, including glassblowing, murrina, filigree, and lattimo. In addition to glass, production also uses other materials, such as gold, silver, and crystal, to create fine works. Venini's most iconic works include Veronese vase (designed by Paolo Venini in 1921), Crinoline (designed by Gio Ponti in 1932), Fazzoletto (designed by Paolo Venini in 1933), and Poliedri (designed by Carlo Scarpa in the 1950s). Today, Venini continues to be a landmark in the world of art glass. The glassworks still produces unique and refined works, handcrafted by Murano master glassmakers according to ancient traditions.
