About the Item

A stunning and unusual quality antique Georgian burr wood turned pedestal bowl and cover is believed to date from the early 19th century. The turned hard wood container is turned from a single piece of wood and is of rounded form sitting raised on a wide round pedestal foot with narrow turned stem. The foot has a round stepped edge with turned simple linear patterning to the stem. The bowl has a narrow-rimmed opening with its original slightly domed cover fitting snugly in the recess and with an upturned rim and a raised flat finial with an attached brass hoop handle. The bowl has a stunning hand-crafted appearance with wonderful coloring and aged patina and is typically not marked. A superb display piece and one of three we are offering from the same collection. Provenance: The Collection of David and Sandy Fuller. David was a successful fine art consultant, known for his work with leading galleries and auction houses including Sotheby's and Christie's. Acquired from the UK Art Market. This stunning bowl is offered in good presentable condition with a couple of short drying splits running down from the top edge of the bowl.
