About the Item

This antique Castle pattern sterling silver table box was made by The Loring Andrews Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. The hinged box is quite ornate and bears highly detailed all-over repoussé decoration featuring turreted castles on the lid, front, and back surrounded by Rococo-style floral motifs. The design includes large exotic birds on the left and right sides. The birds are depicted perched on Rococo-style C-scrolls set amongst a variety of flowers and leaves. The underside bears a beautifully executed foliate-inspired monogram that has been hand-engraved in script. The box is in very good condition with no repairs. There are manufacturer's marks impressed to the underside reading "Sterling The Loring Andrews Co. Cincinnati U.S.A.". As an antique item, the box shows signs of age including tarnish and light, shallow dents/general shelf wear to the underside noted for accuracy. The piece measures 5" wide, 3.75" deep, and stands 2.5" tall. It weighs 395 grams. This exquisite Castle pattern sterling table box displays beautifully and is a wonderful example of Loring Andrews' artistic creativity and exacting craftsmanship. An ideal addition to your decor, whether used for storing small treasures or showcased as a decorative object.
