About the Item

A spectacular and extremely high quality French 19th century Louis XIV st. Boulle Boîte à Bijoux, signed "Tahan - Fournisseur du Roi" (Royal cabinetmaker to the King and Emperor). The jewelry box is raised by an elegant mottled brass border below magnificent interlocking scrolled foliate inlaid brass designs set on a stunning blue tortoise shell background. The lid displays additional wonderfully executed and intricately detailed scrolled foliate movements with stunning etched shading centering a brass reserve with the engraved initials " M.T. ". The lid opens to reveal the original hardware and signature at the lock.
