This exceptional antique Persian silver box has a rectangular form, supported with four plain ball feet.
The body of this antique box is embellished with impressive niello enamel floral festoon panels, encompassed with fret band decorated borders.
The box is fitted with an impressive hinged cover, embellished with further niello enamel decoration incorporating a vacant scroll shaped cartouche to the centre.
This exceptional box has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 850 standard silver.
NOTE: The majority of such boxes have a wood lining; it is a sign of quality when boxes have an unlined, solid silver interior.
Condition
This antique Persian silver and niello enamel box is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

Very elegant rectangular box, created in America during the art deco period back in the 1930-1940. This elegant desk box was crafted by the Poole Silver Co. with sharp lines in solid sterling silver with high polished finish. Mount in four elaborated geometric sabots and fitted in the interior with linings of natural cedar wood and a secure lid with nine barrels hinge.
Weight: 373.55 Grams, (239.46 Dwt).
Measurements: 165 mm by 89 mm x 43 mm (6.5 x 3.5 x 1.70 Inches).
Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the mark for the assay of the silver, the model number and signed, "STERLING BY POOLE 78".
Poole Silver Co.
The Poole Silver Company was formed in 1892 by George Poole and Edward Roche in Taunton as Poole, Roche & Co., then established as a corporation on May 21, 1895. They was in the beginning manufacturer of plated silverware and manufacturer of silver products made with electroplating techniques. In 1900 it operated in a small two-room factory at 106 Whittington Street, and later moved to 320 Whittington Street. From 1946 the firm began to produce sterling silver flatware, hollowware, and cutlery. Later, Poole bought the full control and managed the company until his death. Poole was succeed by his three sons until 1946, when they retired and sold the company to a group headed by Sidney A. Kane. Enameled compact box by Louis Kuppenheim for Alfred Dunhill.
An extraordinary round compact box, created in the city of Pforzheim Germany during the art deco period, back in the late 1920's. This superb elegant round box is closely to mint condition, is very rare and was carefully crafted at the Louis Kuppenheim workshop in solid .935/.999 silver, with gilt interiors and a mirror. Exceptional workmanship as you expect of the workshop of Louis Kuppenheim, with remarkable enameled patterns of peacocks feathers on both faces. Embellished around with white enamel frames and the borders with incised and carved panels with flowers.
Engraved: Monogram GG for Gussie Gerstenzang.
Weight: 143.40 Grams, (91.92 Dwt).
Measurements: Diameter of 80 mm by 12.5 mm (3.14 x 0.49 Inches).
Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark and signed, "MADE IN AUSTRIA 08233 STERLING SILVER .935 ASC 935". For Alfred Dunhill.
Louis Kuppenheim Company
The company was grounded in 1854 by Louis Kuppenheim (1824-1889) and Heinrich Witzenmann, specialized in silver and gold and enameled artefacts. On the World Exhibition in 1900 the firm received a gold medal for a letter opener. In that same year the company opened a branch in the Rue Richelieu 67 in Paris. In these years some designs by Hans Christiansen were executed, amongst them very delicately enameled silver cigarette cases. The enamels on the several silver and gold pieces was of very high standard, and sometimes even gems like rubies were applied. Very famous were the ladies silver vanity cases with cute animals like cats and monkeys...
