About the Item

The set of Wedgwood consists of three lidded boxes in different shape and design and two small serving bowls of which one can be used as an ashtray. All is made of the famous but rare green Jasperware of Wedgwood with neoclassical figures and trees and small scenes with putti in relief in white. There are female figures with masks, or making music with lyra, also Aurora with the chariot of heaven drawn by horses. There are also Altar scenes outdoors or the goddess of the forest Diana, Cupid and Athena. All of this is accompanied by trees, floral decorative ribbons or small scenes of putti with dogs. Measurements approx.: box 1: height 4,72 in – 12 cm, diameter 3,35 in – 8,5 cm, box 2 height 2,16 in – 5,5 cm, diameter 5,12 in – 13 cm, box 3 height 1,77 in – 4,5 cm, diameter 3,74 in – 9,5 cm, serving bowl height 0,79 in – 2 cm, width 5,71 in – 14,5 cm, depth 4,53 in – 11,5 cm, serving bowl / ashtray height 0,59 in – 1,5 cm, diameter 3,74 in – 9,5 cm All objects are marked with Wedgwood, “made in England”, and various model numbers, not only on the bottom but also in the lids. A wonderful 5 piece set in the famous green Jasperware of a famous manufacturer, well known for elaborated design and high quality objects.

Very rare literature themed ceramic object of the well-known company Amphora from Bohemia, Czech Republic, made in the Art Deco period around 1920. The three musketeers of the well-known novel of 1844 by Alexandre Dumas are depicted in 3 side cartouches of this pot. Athos, Porthos and Aramis are delightfully painted in high detail by hand with masterly quality in enamel. The vessel is constructed in such a way that it has three handles on which small lizards / dragons rest, which are also detailed and beautifully physically designed. On the bottom is the amphora brand in underglaze. Measurements approx.: height 12.5 cm - 4.92 in, diameter 22 cm - 8.66 in This is an outstandingly rare object from a renowned manufactory, with a reference to French literature, to a classic of world literature.
