About the Item

Very nice early wooden box, made in Austria, Central Europe. The box was made in the Gründerzeit period, how we call it in Europe, in this case around 1890. There are some interesting facts about this box. First - it is made out of massive walnutwood, so not like other boxes out of a body covered with veneer. Secondly the base is out of fruitwood, more precisely cherry wood. This box is made in interesting construction - with foreign spring, and has a functioning key which is locking the lid with the base and the keyhole. Also very nice is the keyhole covering, in a decorative round shape. The surface was treated by our highly skilled restauration team and re-polished again by hand with shellac. Measurements approx.: height 10,2 cm - 4 in, width 30,5 cm - 12 in, depth 16 cm - 6,3 in The Classic and therefore timeless design of this casket makes it a piece that also fits into a modern interior today. Suitable for your letters, stationery, jewelry and other personal items.
