Wooden Satchel Box Maria Handpainted from 1803 Germany
About the Item
Here you can see a very rare and early wooden satchel from the beginning of the 19th century. An exceptionally decorative object of this period, made with craftsmanship precision and skill. On the back there are hand-forged rings to which a carrying strap could be attached. The painting is a very beautiful dark green, on the front is the name Maria written as well as the year 1803 and other individual letters. Its original purpose is unclear; unfortunately it is difficult to determine whether it was for military or civilian purposes, but the small opening at the top probably suggests military purposes. This object will bring a piece of European history to your home which can be used in many ways, simply as decoration or for storing objects. Because of its height of 41cm, it is also possible to make a seat cushion and use it as a stool.
