ATA1384 An enamel over sterling silver tobacco box lined in walnut. On this friendly hostess’ tray is an array of smoking accoutrements, including a tobacco jar labeled “Porto Rico.” Signed on the bottom by the New York maker E. F. Caldwell. This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver tobacco box has a plain circular rounded form. The underside of this box has a subtly concave form proffering a comfortable fit in the majority of pockets. The surface of this antique silver tobacco box is plain and unembellished. This silver tobacco tin or box retains the original sprung flush hinged hallmarked subtly convex cover, which opens by applying gentle pressure to each side. The interior of the box retains the original gilding. This antique Edwardian piece is an exceptional example for its type. Condition This antique tobacco box is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The box has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.
