An exceptional, fine and impressive, rare antique Victorian English sterling silver table snuff/vesta/trinket box modelled in the form of a barrel; an addition to our diverse silverware collection This exceptional and rare antique sterling silver box has been realistically modelled in the form of a barrel. The surface of this unusual Victorian trinket box is embellished with bands of applied decoration replicating the details of the chime, bilge and quarter hoops, in addition to vertical engraved markings reproducing the individual staves joints. This antique sterling silver barrel box is fitted with a hinged hallmarked cover, ornamented to the exterior with a serrated panel/match striker. The interior of this novelty silver box bears the original gilding. By virtue of its size this unusual and versatile box could be used for a multitude of functions. This exceptional box is the finest example of its type you could hope to acquire. Condition This unusual silver trinket box is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the box and part hallmarks to the surface of the cover are all very clear.
