Early 19th Century Empire Candelabras

About the Item

Stunning pair of gilded and patinated bronze candelabras, featuring a winged cupid. He is standing on a sphere and holding a torch, which is surrounded by three curving candle branches. The branches are decorated with flowers and scrolling foliage, and they are symmetrically interspaced around the central stem which is topped with a flame. The piece is supported by a vase-shaped stem decorated with scales and palms, all of which rests on a square, ormolu plinth. Original gilt, circa 1820. Dimensions: W 7.5 in, D 5.5in, H 20.5in. Dimensions: L 19cm, P 14cm, H 52cm.
